S) Date? Front: Mr & Mrs George H. Baker (longest LH Keeper, from 1878 to 1909 - 30.5 yrs). Left: Wm B. Baker & Mrs Alex Schriver. Right: George E. Baker & Mart Schriver... Nichols was first, Geo Sheridan last (to 1913?) Rocks to stabilize, from Alpena, MI. Porch added later in 1898? Original "1859" sign. Note tower corbels.

Built 1860. Brick. Windows. No porch. Single room in back. Last lighted 1903. Remolded 1934. Now local historical museum.

20 Fred Fursman
C) 1937. With Thyra & Martha Deam under OxBow arbor. Fursman rented the 1859 Lighthouse from Gov't about 1915-1935 for $10/year. Deams sublet about 1933-5, then rented from gov't about 1936-7, before purchase closed. Founder of OxBow. Close friend & predecessor of Arthur F Deam at both Lighthouse and as president of OB (AFD about 14 years after his death). [Geo Washington/Abe Lincoln of OxBow]
